BILL WEIR
Chairman
Bill established PDC in 1972 to provide a professional, independent drafting service
in Perth for fabricators and engineers.
Bill has extensive project management experience in the resources industry, including
the oil and gas, mineral sands, iron ore, gold and nickel sectors. Bill has worked
on many of Australia's major drafting projects including the
North Rankin A Platform for Woodside Energy and the
Hot Briquetted Iron Plant for BHP Billiton.
Bill is involved in negotiating and securing major projects and oversees the day
to day operation of PDC to ensure that its quality and management systems are maintained
and its high standard of service upheld. Bill often sits on project control committees
along with representatives of the engineering consultant, fabricator and client.
MARTYN WEIR
Managing Director
Since joining PDC in 2002 Martyn has led major projects for PDC such as
Woodside's Train V and Rio Tinto's Yandi
and Hope Downs projects.
Martyn's engineering background gives PDC an even deeper understanding of the design
process, so it can better meet the needs of the engineering consultants. Martyn's
extensive fabrication and construction experience ensures that the fabricator's
requirements are considered at all times. This knowledge enables PDC to work equally
well with either the fabricator or engineering consultant.
Martyn's business background brings expertise in optimising material usage to result
in improved schedules and overall project cost reductions. This experience has also
assisted in improving the information systems and company structure to optimise
PDC's productivity.
Prior to joining the company Martyn held senior structural and project engineering
positions. He has worked on various resource and major global oil and gas projects
such as Woodside Energy's Northern Endeavour Floating
Production Storage and Offloading Facility and ConocoPhillips' Bayu Undan
Gas Platform.
JOHN LYONS
General Manager - Detailing
John joined PDC in 1977 and was made a partner in 1992.
John has worked on most of PDC's major projects, either in a drafting or managerial
capacity. Each project requires a director to step into the role of Project Director
and John most recently oversaw PDC's work on the Cloudbreak
Ore Handling Facility for Fortescue Metals Group.
As General Manager of Detailing, John coordinates the teams to ensure productivity is maintained
and projects run efficiently and to schedule. With his broad knowledge of the industry
and relevant design standards and specifications, John solves the more complex technical
issues. His personal commitment to implementing the latest in 3D technology and
quality control systems makes John a driving force in ensuring PDC's goals are met.
SHAWN WEIR
General Manager - BIM Consulting
Shawn joined PDC in 2006 as Commercial Manager. With more than 12 years' management
and HR experience in the construction, oil & gas and mining industries, Shawn brings
a broad range of expertise to the PDC team. Shawn has led the implementation of
PDC's improved HR systems and is responsible for the negotiation and management
of the company's commercial obligations.
Shawn has also assisted in the project management of some of PDC's largest projects
including Fortescue Metals Group's Cloudbreak project
and BHP's Rapid Growth Project 4.
Prior to joining PDC, Shawn was General Manager of a specialised personnel logistics
provider which serviced the majority of the resource projects in Western Australia.
Shawn also has an extensive employee relations background, having consulted to a
variety of clients in the construction and resources industries including Woodside's
LNG 4 Project.
This experience around software development and consultancy has resulted in the appointment of Shawn as General Manager – BIM Consulting to ensure the continuous growth of this business unit.
SHANE DIGGINS
General Manager - Design
Shane joined PDC in 2010 and brings to the company some 30 years of engineering experience; half having being spent in project/design management and the other half in plant design construction.
With a strong background in construction and project management roles, Shane has a clear appreciation of what is needed from a design team. Added to this is his experience in the design of alumina, copper, gold, iron ore, lead/zinc and mineral sands plants, as well as infrastructure projects.
PAUL SYMES
4DGG - Managing Director
Paul has 25 years experience in the steel construction industry in Australasia and North America, including fabrication, consulting, engineering and steel detailing. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration with Major in Accounting / Commercial Law.
KEVIN GOADSBY
Chief Financial Officer
Kevin joined PDC in 2010 having 20 years experience in accounting. Qualified in 1999 Kevin spent eight years as an Audit Manager before he moved into the industry where he has worked for the last 12 years.
Kevin worked as a Finance Director and Company Secretary in the UK before coming to Australia and working as a Financial Controller in a Listed company here in Australia before joining PDC. Kevin has strong systems and procedures skills and experience with consolidated entities, as well as mergers and acquisitions. He also has extensive project accounting and cost accounting knowledge and experience.
